Woah, hold up, I know what you're thinking:  Sumatra = Starbucks = Bad.  

This Sumatran stood out so much on the table against the other coffees were testing - it was a clear winner. Mostly from its uniqueness. This Sumatran stood out so much on the table against the other coffees were testing - it was a clear winner. Mostly from its uniqueness. The ground smell was so "herbaceous" it might remind you of your college days. This put some fright in us as ground smells can translate to cup, but this was not the case.

We thought the coffee had quite bit of citrus zest that rounded out into a plum-like body. It's a surprisingly soft and pleasant cup where tropical fruits seem to come to mind. This is opposed to its near overpowering ground smell which might turn some off. With that said it is an enjoyable cup to drink and one we were surprised to say "it's a really nice coffee" over and over until finishing. As it cooled it did turn slightly sour for us and more into the ripe tomato side of taste so expect a more savory finish, not sweet.
